1) Sodium thiosulfate can be used in water treatment as a dechlorinating agent and bactericide for drinking water and wastewater. It is often used to remove chlorine from tap water, as well as a copper corrosion inhibitor for circulating cooling water or deoxidizer for boiler water systems or treatment of cyanide-containing wastewater.

2) Sodium thiosulfate has also been widely used in the aquaculture industry because of its low price, high efficiency and pollution-free in water quality improvement. It has the effect of removing residual chlorine in water, degrading nitrite, and improving water quality.

3) Sodium thiosulfate can react with silver bromide to form a complex. The reaction formula is AgBr+2Na₂S₂O₃=NaBr+Na₃〔Ag(S₂O₃)₂〕, so in the photography industry, sodium thiosulfate is often used as a fixer. The unexposed part of the negative of the photo we took contains silver bromide. Sodium thiosulfate reacts with silver bromide to remove AgBr, and the developed part can be fixed.

4) Sodium thiosulfate has a strong reducing and can react with substances such as chlorine. Therefore, in the textile industry, sodium thiosulfate is used as a dechlorinating agent after the fabric is bleached.

5) Sodium thiosulfate can help relieve the symptoms of various poisonings and help to excrete toxins from the body. It can be used to improve the symptoms of cyanide poisoning and can also help with the symptoms of heavy metal poisoning, such as arsenic, mercury, lead, bismuth, iodine, etc. Low-dose injections of sodium thiosulfate can be used for allergies, such as skin itching, chronic urticaria, and drug eruptions.
